Lord Walter Rothschild is being sued for libel by a Mr. Grosland, author of an anti-Semitic book entitled “A Fine Old Hebrew Gentleman”. A report of the libel writ against Lord Rothschild was made by the press committee at the meeting of the Jewish Board of Deputies Sunday. The Committee advised the Board to raise the question of having the libel law altered so as to prevent libellous attacks on communities and collective bodies.
A similar report was submitted by the Foreign Committee of the Angle-Jewish Association. Delegate Landa suggested that if it is true that Henry Ford is behind the international anti-Jewish organization with headquarters in Switzerland, the Board of Deputies would be well advised to inform the public of this fact for the purpose of getting the world to realize that “international finance is not always Jewish”.
That there is considerable truth in the report that Henry Ford is financing the anti-Semitic international may be gathered from the fact that Mr. Lucien Wolf of the Joint Foreign Committee assured the deputies that inquiries are proceeding as to Ford’s participation in international anti-Semitism.
