The Austrian Consul at Munich has been instructed by Foreign Minister Gruenburger to file a protest with Dictator von Kahr of Lavaria against the expulsion from that province of Jews of Austrian citizenship, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns. The Consul was empowered to state to the Bavarian authorities that Austria will expel Bavarians if the exile of Austrian citizens from Bavaria continues.
Following the visit of a Jewish deputation to the German Minister in Vienna, Minister Pfeiffer communicated by telephone with Berlin pointing out the possible international complications involved in the exile of Austrian citizens from Bavaria.
It is learned also that the Spanish Minister at Munich intervened in behalf of the deportees, lodging his protest in the name of several of the European Powers.
The League of Nations has been asked by the Committee of Jewish Delegations to interfere in the wholesale deportation of Jews.
The Foreign Minister here states that the expulsion of Austrian Jews from Bavaria has been stopped and that those expelled had been permitted to return.
