Count Albert Apponyi, the distinguished Hungarian statesman was listed with prominent Jews of Hungary who were to be assassinated in the event the proposed putsch against the government and pogrom on the Jews had come off as scheduled.
This announcement is made officially by the police who had reported that a treaty had been found in possession of the insurrectionary deputy Ulan, drawn up with M. Doemel, the special diplomatic emissary of the Hitler group in Munich.
A complete plan for a pogrom in Budapest was also found in the deputy’s possession as well as a list of important persons to be assassinated, including besides Count Apponyi, the Jewish deputies Vaszonyi, Fabian and Rassay.
Searches of the houses of the anti-Semitic politicians are being continued, the result of the incriminating evidence discovered so far being the arrest of leaders of the Awakening Magyars, Deputy Konrad Weiss, Drs. Alexander Daniel, and Alexander Adorgan. The arrest of Deputy Goemboes, a leading spirit in the anti-Semitic and anti-Bethlem forces, is also expected.
