A move to retain in Republican Poland the Russian Czar’s disability clauses where Jews are concerned came to light today with the withdrawal by leaders of the Government Party of the draft of the law abolishing formally, throughout Congress Poland, the restrictions as applied to Jews.
Jewish members of the National Assembly submitted a vigorous interpellation against the attempt to perpetuate at least in law the restrictions of monarchist Russia. The Jewish representatives point to Article 126 of the constitution directing the government to reconcile the prevailing law with the constitution of the Polish Republic. They demand the reintroduction of the legislation introduced under Premier Sikorski’s Government, calling for the abolition of the anti-Jewish discriminatory clauses.
