Congregation Beth El of Houston, Texas, has chosen Dr. Maxwell Farber of New York City as Rabbi.

Officers of Temple Emanuel, Lawrence, Mass., and of the Sisterhood of the Temple were installed.

Samuel Astroff is President; Max Warshaw, first Vice-President.

The title of “Rabbi for Life” has been conferred upon Dr. Louis Wolsey by Euclid Avenue Temple, Cleveland. Ohio.

Rabbi Wolsey has been spiritual leader at the Temple since 1907. During these years, its membership has increased from 250 to 1,250.

Work has started on the new Anshe Sholem Synagogue and Community Center in Chicago. Rabbi Saul Silber is the leader of the Congregation.

A new $125,000 community house to accomodate all of the Jewish recreational, social and educational activities in Milwaukee, Wis. will be built in the spring according to plans of the Abraham Lincoln house directors.

Mrs. Simon Kander, who founded the Abraham Lincoln house 20 years ago, announced that $50,000 saved from the settlement cook book fund is available now for the new building.

John Landesco, head worker, reported that 18,000 persons were visiting the Abraham Lincoln house each month.
