The entire reserve fund of the Jewish War Victims was allotted for credit and aid work in Poland.
This allotment, amounting to £5,000, is a part of the efforts now undertaken by British Jewry to relieve the distress of the Jewish population in Poland. The £5,000 will be placed at the disposal of Dr. Bernard Kahn, European director of the Joint Distribution Committee. The amount of £3,000 was allotted for the same purpose by the newly formed Federation of Jewish Relief Organizations of Great Britain, which includes the Federation of Ukrainian Jews, the Lodzer Benevolent Society and the Federation of Polish Jews. The Federation was formed at a special relief conference in London on April 11. The conference was called by the three societies participating in the Federation.
Dr. J. H. Hertz, Chief Rabbi of Great Britain, presided. At this meeting Dr. Leon Reich, former president of the Club of Jewish Deputies in Poland, reported on the situation of Polish Jewry. A resolution was adopted to ask the War Victims’ Fund to send its reserve fund to Poland.
