Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nationalist Socialist Labor Party, made his first public speech since the collapse of his Fascist rising in Bavaria, in Berlin yesterday.
The police took precautionary measures with a view to preventing disturbances. The prohibition against Hitler speaking in public in Prussia has not yet been lifted, so that the meeting had to be held behind closed doors.
A complaint was made at the meeting that while Jews and Chinese were being allowed to speak on May Day in the parks, Hitler, who stood for German Nationalism, had to speak behind closed doors.
The meeting passed without incident and was only sparsely attended. The Democratic press declares that the small attendance and the. lukewarm interest shown generally in Hitler’s first reappearance in public life in Berlin shows that he has ceased to be of any account in German politics.
