The Mexican Embassy here, when its attention was called to the article in the “Osservatore Romano” claiming that President Calles chose as Foreign Minister a “Protestant Jew who opened the gates in the most barefaced fashion to the immigration of his co-religionists,” informed the J. T. A. correspondent that the Vatican organ apparently has reference to Aaron Saenz. who for five years, up to last year, was Foreign Secretary under President Calles, is now Govenor of the State of Nuevo Leon, and has been mentioned as a possible successor of Calles, So far as known. it was stated by the Embassy, Saenz is not a Jews, but a Protestant Christian. It was not known whether Saenz is of Jewish descent. However, his brother, and under-Secretary in the Department of Public Education, is prominent in the Young Mens’ Christian Association, a Protestant institution it was stated.
