Salonica Jews Go to Polls with Four Lists

The position of the Jews in Salonica in the Parliamentary elections which will take place tomorrow, Sunday, is still confused.

There are four lists of candidates conlesting in the elections hesides one or two independent candidates, (1) The Jewish list which has no special political views and which is supported by the Zionists and the leading circles of the Jewish community: David Matalon, President of the B’nai B’rith and honorary secretary of the Jewish Communal Council and Deputy Bessantchi, who seek re-election. (2) Anti-Venizelist list: Deputy Isaac Sciaky who seeks reelection, and Deputy Allalouf, who is at present in Paris. (3) Venizelist list: Aaron Sciaky and Elie Veissi. (4) Communist list: Deputies Jacques Ventoura and David Soulam, who are seeking reelection, and independent Anti-Venizelist candidates: Yomtov Jacoel and Isaac Florentin, who should not be confused with David Florentin, a member of the Jewish Communal Council.
