Riga despatches to the “London Daily Mail” reported today that the Soviet Legation in Latvia announced that Josef Stalin, “Russia’s Iron Man,” had ordered the reorganization of the Commissariat for Foreign Affairs, involving the dismissal of Maxim Litvinoff, Assistant Commissar, a United Press despatch states.
Stalin, the despatch said, was determined to take this action in spite of charges of anti-Semitism. It was said that the charges were made by several Jewish Communists.
