Congressman Sol Bloom of New York has been appointed associate director with Lieutenant Colonel Ulysses S. Grant, 3rd, of the celebration in 1932 to commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of George Washington, it was announced here today by Senator Simeon D. Fess and Representative John Q. Tilson on behalf of the executive committee of the George Washington Bi-centennial Commission.
Among the qualifications of Congressman Bloom that obtained for him the position were his association with several international expositions, his superintending the construction of the Midway Plaisance at the Columbia Exposition in Chicago in 1893 and his prominent connections with various leaders in the movie, theatrical and radio industries.
