New York has been selected as the place for the next annual meeting of the National Jewish Hospital at Denver, according to a telegram received here yesterday by Judge Samuel D. Levy, chairman of the New York Committee of the Hospital. The meeting will be held on March 16, with delegates from various parts of the country attending.
Judge Levy will be in charge of local arrangements for the annual meeting and associated with him will be Julius Ochs Adler, vice-chairman; Paul Felix Warburg, New York treasurer; Ben Altheimer, national treasurer; Mrs. Rebekah Kohut, secretary and Henry L. Heming, assistant secretary, along with other members of the New York Committee.
The Heineman Building of the hospital, a gift of the late Louis Heineman, of Jamestown, N. Y., whose bequest of $150,000 made possible its erection and equipment, was dedicated yesterday. Devoted exclusively to the care of children suffering from tuberculosis of bones, joints and glands, and with special facilities for children with pulmonary tuberculosis, the building offers the only service of its kind in the country, since no other national institution embraces this type of work for children. Every facility known to medical science has been incorporated in the building, which has accommodations for forty-four children, with a special isolation pavilion for twenty-two additional children. Like all other departments of the hospital, the work of the Heineman Building, will be free, national and non-sectarian.
Judge Levy issued a statement yesterday, declaring that one out of every four beds in this country provided under Jewish auspices for the treatment of tuberculosis is maintained by the National Jewish Hospital. He added that one out of every four patients treated by the hospital since it was founded was a resident of New York State and that included on its roster are patients from every state in the Union. Because of pre-eminence in its field, the hospital was selected by the State of Colorado as the training center for senior students in the University of Colorado Medical School.
