Something of the industrial progress being made in Palestine was told by Dr. Maurice Hexter, American member of the Jewish Agency’s Palestine executive, just before he sailed Tuesday night to attend a meeting of the administrative committee of the Jewish Agency in Berlin, August 29. The statement was issued through the Allied Jewish Campaign.
During the next four years the orange industry, Dr. Hexter pointed out, will be exporting 10,000,000 crates of oranges to foreign markets. This year, he stated, oranges were exported to England and Germany and in both of these countries high prices were obtained for the fruit.
He also stated that stockings made in factories located in Tel Aviv will soon be exported to South American countries. Before the end of this year, he said, the Rutenberg power plant near Tiberius will begin operations. Intensive work, he added, is now going on in connection with the Dead Sea development.
