The total Jewish population of the world, estimated on the basis of data gathered up to 1927, is placed at 15,050,000, while the United States, according to the same estimates, contains 4,228,000 Jews. These figures appear in the new volume of the American Jewish Year Book, which has just been issued.
The number of Jews in New York City is put at 1,765,000. Jews make up 16.67 percent of the total population in New York State, where the percentage of Jews is the largest in the country, while in Idaho, where the percentage of Jews in the smallest, they make up only 0.21 of the total population.
The new volume of the American Jewish Year Book discusses events affecting Jews in foreign countries during the past year, particularly the anti-Semitic outbreaks in Roumania, Germany, Vienna, Hungary and Czecho-Slovakia.
