German Town Bars Jews, Recalling ‘pale’ Restriction

The prohibition against residence by Jews in certain districts of Germany, similar to the creation of the Pale Settlement in Czarist Russia, is seen here in the unanimous decision of the municipality of Gross-Groebach, in Franken, forbidding Jews to enter the district. This is one of the first decisions of its kind even in Nazi Germany.
