$4,200,000 Federation Campaign is Launched at Dinner Tonight

The $4,200,000 campaign for the upkeep of the activities of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies will be launched Sunday evening at a dinner to be held at the Hotel Commodore. The dinner marks the official beginning of the drive to complete the budget for the maintenance of the ninety-one organizations supported by Federation funds.

Lewis W. Douglas, Director of the Federal Budget, will be the principal speaker. An address will be given by Joseph M. Proskauer, who as president of the Federation, has already led the organization through two difficult depression-period campaigns. Mrs. Felix M. Warburg will speak on behalf of the Women’s Division which has been among the leading groups in the drive, as well as throughout the year. Plans for the 1933 campaign will be presented briefly by the two associate chairmen of the drive, Paul Adler and Benjamin J. Buttenwieser. Supreme Court Justice Samuel I. Rosenman will preside.

On Monday 2,500 volunteer workers will begin soliciting donations for the organization. During the past few years, the Federation has concentrated on securing food and clothing for the relief of the unemployed, and such work as child-care
