Jewish students attending the University of Riga have been barred from having committee representation in the Students’ Union, a body whose chief duty is to secure reductions in tuition for needy scholars.
Hitherto it has been the policy of the Union to give equal numerical representation to nationalities in the University. The expulsion of Jewish delegations was unexpected in spite of the fact that anti-Semitic feeling was rife. The Jewish students view the move as a breach of the University constitution. A feeling prevails that anti-Semitic members of the faculty are responsible for the action.
