That the rights of groups may receive as much consideration as the rights of individuals was the prayer voiced by tie Rev. Everett R. Clinchy. director of the National Council of Jews and Christians, in a talk on “The Nation-Wide Tour of the there Faiths” at a meeting of the women’s auxiliary of Congregation Einanu-El.
Rev. Clinchy, who was one of the three ministers who made a good-will tour of the country recently, reported that although they found a real problem arising among the different groups that comprise America, unlike 1921, when the Kian movement swept the country, prejudice was not so easily taking root now. He considered this the psychological moment to strike out against prejudice. “The only possibility of preventing an organization like the Silver Shirts from making headway is to bring intelligent people together all over the country to combat it,” he said.
About eighty women attended the meeting which was followed by a tea and reception. Mrs. Belle Sessler, president of the organization, presided.
