Many Natables Sponsor Rally Against Hitler

Outstanding members of the American Bar joined with governors of eight states to form a committee of sponsors for the presentation of “The Case of Civilization Against Hitlerism” on March 7 at Madison Square Garden.

The “Case of Civilization against Hitlerism” is to be a factual record of the acts and laws of the Hitler regiame and has been arranged by the American Jewish Congress, acting a cooperation with the American Federation of Labor and other liberal and anti-Nazi organizations, in connection with the anniversary of Hitler’s election.

The committee includes Dr. William T. Neilson, president of Smith College; Professor John Dewey, of Columbia Univeristy; Progessor Arthur O. Lovejoy, head of the philosophy department of Johns Hopkins University; dr. Alvin Johnson, head of the New School for Social Research, and Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt, noted woman leader. Others are Edwin de T. Bechtel, Eldon Bisbee, James Byrne, Victor J. Dowling, Hon. O’Brien, James A. O’Gorman, Amos J. Peaslee, Jacob Gould Schhurman, Jr., Charies H. Strong and Otto C. Wierum.

Governor Herbert H. Lehman of New York is represented among a group of government who have conseted to join the committee of sponsors, including Governor I. C. Blackwood of South Carolian. Governor Willbur Cross of Connecticut, Governor Clyde L. Herring of Iowa, Governor Hill McAlister of Tennessee, Governor Leslie A. Miller of Wyoming, Governor William H. Murray of Oklahoma and Governor Gifford Pinchot of Pennsylvania.

Plans for the participation of forty-five leading liberal, anti-Nazi and Jewish organizations will be formulated at a meeting to be held this afternoon at the New School for Social Research.
