Representatives of Jewish Social work organization in communities throughout Pennsylvana will meet in Lancaster Thursday to study the present program of the various agencies and to consider plans for the future program of such work.
The Jewish conference under the auspices of the National Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds will open with a luncheon at the Hotel Brunswick with Rabbi Max Arzt of Scranton presiding.
Dr. Ludwing B. Bernstein, executive. director, Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Pittsburgh, will discuss the ”Objectives of the Conferece.” Mrs. I. Albert Livinght, secretary of Welfare of the State of Pennsylvania,a will present the subject, ”Public Relief as It Affects Jewish Organization,” and Rabbi arzt will speak on ”The Survival of Jewish Instotutions and Jewish Social Serivce.”
The affernoon sesion will be under the guidance of Rabbi Philip this program will the Harryb L. Lurie, director of the Burean of Jewish Social Research, New York, who will discuss ”’The Signiffifcance of the Federation in American Jewish Life.” George of the National Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, New York, will speak on ”What Communal Activities Are Needed in the Smaller Jewish Communities of Pennsylvana.” Professor Israel A. Abrams superintendent of the Hebrew instiute of Pittsburgh, will discuss ”The Possibilities of Religious Education and Cultural Activites in Smaller Communitties.”
During the afternoon session, time will be provided for the expression of opinion and discussion of programs by leadedrs of many communities in the Cate.
