Hadassah, in the midst of a national campaign to raise funds for medical and infant welfare work in Palestine, reports dinner, theatre parties and teas throughout the country.
New York chapter opens its campaign with a concert by Mme. Maria Jerita at Carnegie Hall on February 17. This will be Mme. Jeritza’s only appearance in New York. Mrs. Herbert H. Lehman is honorary chairman of the campaign, and Mrs. Abraham L. Leibowitz, chairman. Honorary chairmen of the concert committee are Mrs. Charles S. Guggenheimer, Mrs. Stanley L. Richter, Mrs. Felix M. Warburg, Mme. Hulda Lashanska and Mrs. Alexander Simson. New York chapter also plans a $30 plate luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria on March 20th.
Broolyn Hadassah is busy with its annual $25 Give or Get Luncheon, set for the Astor on March 5. Mrs. Isidor Taub is chairman and Mrs. Zvi Rubinstein is in charge of arrangements. Bridges were given by Mrs. Phillip Freeman and Mrs. Max Levy at their homes, the proceeds going to the campaign funds.A theatre party at the Jewish Art Theatre on Jan. 21, given by the Prospect-Flatbush group, was very successful.
Springfield, Mass, chapter opened its campaign this week with a donors’ luncheon attended by 200 women. Mrs. Frieda Silbert Ullian of New York, national vice-president, was guest of honor, At New Brunswick, N. J., Mrs. Benjamin Gottesman of New York City outlined the work of the drive to the local chapter. A senior Hadassah is being organized in Cedar Rapids, Ia., to assist the local chapter of Junior Hadassah with the campaign.
COUNCIL WOMEN ACTIVE
Miss Cecilia Razovsky, field counselor of the National distinguished hereself this week. She represented the council at the NRA ceremony in the offices of the Dress Code Authority. NRA labels will henceforth be sewed into dresses. Frances Perkins, Secretary of Labor, sewed the first dress label in her garment.
Mrs. Maurice L. Goldman will represent the Council at the National Woman’s Party dinner Monday evening, celebrating the signing of the Equal Rights Nationality Treaty.
One of the National Council’s chief interests is in the field of the naturalization of foreign born women and the nationality rights of all women. It cabled Secreatary Hull urging the United States’ signatuure to the treaty
Four delegates participated in the “Birth Control Conference” in Washington this week. The Council has gone on record in favor of the legal dissemination of birth control information throuogh the mails. This week the Coucil also endorsed the American Palestine campaign of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
GOLDIE MEYERSON RETURNS
Godie Meyerson, labor leader in Palestine, recently visited her home city Milwaukee. Miss Meyerson, a graduate of the Milwaukee State Teachers College and a resident of the city for many years, has made her home in Palestine during the past twelve years.
She addressed various local organizations on conditions in the Holy Land. Women, particularly German Jewish girls, are coming to Palestine in increasing numbers, and girls are being trained for jobs that men ordinarily do, she says.

Mrs. M. Spector was elected president of the Jewish Natinal Alliance No 26. Other officers are Mrs. B. Ulansky, vice-president; Mrs. N. J. Pincus, finacial secretary and treausurer, and Mrs. William Coplawitz, recording secretary.
