Peace Movement Must Be Real, Sternberger Says at Address Here

“The movement for peace must be realistic and speak the language of th business world.” declared Elstelle M. Sternberger, executive director of world Peaceways, in her address Monday afternoon at the Amherst club under the auspices of the Liberal Ministers’ club. Mrs. Sternberger is the first woman ever to speak at the Amerst club.

We must not only put out the flames of growing militarization but we must also go behind the flames to see what caused them an to fight those caused. The world’s peace must b sought “through the stabilization and coordination of its economic activities and relations,” was her conclustion. Mrs. Sternberger spoke on a “Realistic Assessment of the Peace Problem Today.”

ATTEMPT TO RAISE MONEY FOR NEEDY FAMILIES

Efforts are being made by the Harmony Club of Jamaica to raise $6,000 to be used to purchase food for needy Jewish families in Queens, it had been announced by Harry Gertz, chairman of them committee in charge of raising the fund. The group proposes to distribute passover baskets to the needly early in April. Chairman Gertz is being assisted in his efforts by Magistrate Benjamin Marvin, Sameul Spa and Martin Schwaeber.

NEW VETERANS POST

Richmond Hill Post, Jewish War Veterans, has been organized, with headquarters at th Congregation Beth Israel, Richmond Hill. Abraham Adler, active in Jewish war veteran gruops, addressed the last meeting of the post, at which Isidore Wiel, a Spanish War veteran, president.
