With the political pot boiling in four different directions in this state— Republican, Democratic, Progressive and Socialist—Jews are taking a prominent part in the effervescence.
The new Progressive party, organized by the former La Follette Republicans, has several Jewish leaders. Joseph Padway, Milwaukee attorney, is a member of the state executive committee. Samuel Sigman, of Appleton, Federation of Labor counsel in that city, and Samuel Soref, militant Milwaukee aldermen, are organizers of the Farmer-Labor Progressive federation, an affiliate of the Progressive party.
Two Jews are also on the executive committee of the Young Progressive league of Wisconsin. They are William Nathanson and Aaron Tietlebaum.
The Wisconsin Democratic party at its state convention, endorsed William B. Rubin, as one of the candidates for governor.
Morris Stern is being considered as candidate for state senator by the Socialist party and Robert Hess as district attorney of Milwaukee county.
Jews are also playing an active part in the conservative Republican party, which is soon to hold its state convention.
