How German Fascism is breaking up the family through arrests, murders, concentration camps and other means, was traced by Hans Baer, a refugee, at last night’s delegates’ convention of the Anti-Nazi Federation of New York, at the New School for Social Research, 66 West Twelfth street.
Treatment of victims in concentration camps, with attendant tortures and persecution, according to various classifications, was also described by Baer. The speaker emphasized the absolute suppression of all freedom, particularly that of speech.
Pauline Rogers, secretary, in connection with her report to some 500 delegates from 370 local organizations, declared that with the developing breakdown of the Nazi regime, it is important to intensify efforts to aid the German masses in overthrowing Hitlerism. She particularly urged further financial support and a “broader ideological campaign.”
Political prisoners and the newly-established People’s Court in Germany were discussed from a lawyer’s point of view by Dr. Kurt Rosenfeld, former Minister of. Justice for Prussia. Mrs. Anabel Ellis, British journalist, spoke of the status of women in Nazi Germany. Frank Wedl presided.
