Rabbi Jacob J. Weinstein, formerly spiritual adviser of Jewish students at Columbia University, urges the creation of a central board of strategy for organizations seeking to combat Nazi propaganda in the United States.
Speaking at a dinner of the Jewish Council of Greater New York, Rabbi Weinstein said that the events of the past year made such a body essential. He urged also that the Jewish people establish themselves economically to meet the crisis.
Bernard G. Richards, who presided, berated the anti-Nazi forces for “neglecting to take advantage of the liberal views of most German American labor and progressive groups” and said that the majority have already been influenced to support Nazism.
Other speakers were Jacob Fishman, editor of the Jewish Morning Journal; Ruben Fink, writer; Morris Margulies, secretary of the Zionist Organization of America; Meyer Levy, president of the Bronx Bar Association; Arthur M. Blane, president of the Bronx Civic Association; Mortimer Lancet, member of the administrative committee of the Council, and Harold M. Phillips, chairman of the Council committee on organization.
