News of the death of Oskar Wassermann, German Jewish banker, came as shock to Zionist leaders here. The German Jewish leader was one of the founders of the Jewish Agency for Palestine and active in working for the cause of Palestine.

English newspapers praised him highly and extolled his services for his country in times of crisis. The London Daily Telegraph emphasized the fact that Wassermann’s greatest prominence came as a result of his work for the Reichsbank.
