Mrs. Esther Solomon, who for thirty-six years conducted a restaurant on Park row and was known to thousands as “Mama Solomon,” died yesterday in Bushwick Hospital, Brooklyn. Until a few months ago she was actively in charge of the restaurant, which was a well known eating place, patronized by judges, lawyers and newspapermen.
Ever since the doors of her restaurant were opened Mrs. Solomon had made it a standing rule that no one who asked for food should be turned away. She kept the rule even during the depression and fed thousands free.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow from her home. 306 Avenue N, Brooklyn.
