Offer Baron De Hirsch School to City on Dollar-a-year Basis

The Baron de Hirsch Trade School, 222 East Sixty-fourth street, will be turned over to the Board of Education on a dollar-a-year lease for use as a vocational school if the Board, when it meets next on December 26, should decide to accept an offer approved by the Board of Superintendents.

The Baron de Hirsch School was established in 1891 through a trust fund created by a gift of $2,500,000 from the estate of Baron de Hirsch. It was originally planned to provide trade instruction for Jewish immigrant boys.
