The United States Maccabi team was presented today by Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, High Commissioner of Palestine, with a trophy for the highest score in the second world Maccabiad concluded here yesterday, in which 1,200 athletes from twenty-seven different countries participated.
Fifty thousand persons were present last night at the closing ceremony of the Maccabiad, the Jewish world Olympiad, featured by a huge torchlight procession.
The High Commissioner greeted the audience through a lou#-speaker and congratulated the winners. “I am delighted to see such a spirit of sports among the Jews,” he said.
The Maccabiad lasted six days and attracted thousands of guests and tourists from abroad.
