Seventy-five thousand dollars in checks and pledged was received for the Rothschild Hadassah University Hospital to be built in Palestine and a resolution calling for a boycott of the Berlin Olympics was adopted at the closing session of the Hadassah convention last night.
Dr. Nathan Ratnoff of New York, president of the American Jewish Physicians Committee, discussing the history of the hospital project, said the committee has $40,000 awaiting final plans for the Palestine medical center. He gave a $14,000 check completing the $25,000 pledged for the Pauline Ratnoff Maternity Pavilion.
Mrs. Felix M. Warburg made a plea for financial aid to the medical center. She announced a half million dollars had been obtained and the remaining $200,000 needed by October of next year.
Budgets were approved for the following year providing $200,000 for the medical center, $20,000 for school luncheons for Palestine children and $50,000 for the Jewish National Fund.
A new highway near Haifa Bay will be called Hadassah Parkway, it was announced by Mrs. Eugene Bernstein. An educational policy
was decided upon to be carried out through lectures and study groups, Mrs. Emanuel Halpern disclosed.
Mrs. Edward Jacobs, president, and all other officers were re-elected.
It was decided to observe Dec. 21, the birthday of Miss Henrietta Szold, as Hadassah Sabbath and an international broadcast will be held from Jerusalem
