Palestine Protects Brewing Industry with Tariff

THE INFANT BREWING INDUSTRY OF PALESTINE HAS BEEN TAKEN UNDER THE WING OF A PROTECTIVE TARIFF. THE HIGH COMMISSIONER HAS ORDERED A DUTY OF 10 MILS ON EACH LITER OF IMPORTED BEER.

THE LEVY IS INTENDED TO PROTECT THE NEW PALESTINE BREWERIES FROM COMPETITION OF BEER MADE IN SYRIA AND LEBANON. WHILE THERE IS AN INTERNAL REVENUE TAX OF 7 MILS ON BEER IN PALESTINE, SYRIA AND LEBANON IMPOSE NO TAX ON THEIR BEER INTENDED FOR EXPORT.
