Deportation of the 90,000 Jews who are still in the Czech Protectorate is now being carried out in an even more drastic manner than previously, it was reported in Czechoslovak circles here today.
The report states that all male Jews in the Czech Protectorate between the ages of 16 and 50 have been rounded up and sent to forced labor camps, while those over 50, together with women and children, are being deported to camps in Eastern Poland and Nazi-occupied Russia.
Although little mail is received by Jews still in the Protectorate from their relatives in the coups, the reports that do trickle out tell stories of unspeakable suffering from lack of food and shelter. As a result of inadequate sanitary facilities and the wretched physical condition of the internees an epidemic of spotted fever is raging in many of the camps. Included in a list of deported Jews, which reached here today, are the names of several women over eighty years old.
