A delegation of Jewish leaders from Poland and Czechoslovakia now in London today was received by Anthony Drexel-Biddle, Jr., United States Ambassador to the Polish and Czechoslovak Governments-in-Exile, and presented to him a comprehensive report on the Jewish situation in their respective countries under the Nazi occupation.
The report also contained an appeal asking the American ambassador to intervene, with the State Department in Washington for the purpose of securing the consent of the American Government for the sending of food to the starving Jews of Poland and Czechoslovakia in the same manner as this is being done for the starving population in Axis-held Greece.
Ambassador Biddle, who is well acquainted with the tragic situation of the Jews in Poland, promised the delegation that he would transmit their appeal to Washington and add his personal recommendations. The Jewish delegation received by the ambassador included Dr. Ignacy Schwartzbart, Jewish member of the Polish National Council, and Dr. Arnost Frischer, the only Jewish representative in the Czechoslovakian National Council.
