The S. S. Magallanes, first ship bearing Jewish immigrants to arrive in the United States since the end of the war, decked here late yesterday with 63 refugees from Portugal and Spain.

The arrivals were met at the pier by representatives of the Hias, whose sister organization HIAS-ICA had assisted them in obtaining visas and transportation. Many left immediately for the homes of relatives in various parts of the country, while others were sent to the Hias shelter in New York to await transportation to their ultimate destinations.
