Conservative Women’s Convention Pledges Efforts for “vibrant American Judaism”

Delegates attending the convention here of the Women’s League of the United Synagogue of America today pledged themselves to a “fellowship plan” in which they said they would “participate consciously in the creation of a vibrant American Judaism for today and tomorrow.” The delegates said they would “make the Sabbath operative” in their lives. Mrs. Emanuel Siner, of Long Island, N.Y., was elected national president.

The convention approved a $250,000 goal for the League’s Torah Fund program, which is in behalf of the educational programs conducted by the Jewish Theological Seminary. One of the principal speakers at last night’s session was Rabbi Judah Nadich, of Brookline, Mass., former Advisor on Jewish Affairs to Gen. Dwight Eisenhower during World War II. Rabbi Nadich said he feared a “possible and gradual diminution of Jewish loyalties among American Jews unless there is an immediate intensification of spiritual and cultural life.”
