Haim Levanon Elected Mayor of Tel Aviv; Succeeds Rokach

Haihi Levanph, Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv was today elected Mayor to replace Israel Rokach, who resigned the post to head the Ministry of Interior. Eliezer Peri, Mapai, and Saadya Shoshani, General Zvonist, were elected co-Deputy Mayors.

Mr. Levanon, a General Zionist like Mr. Rokach, was born in Krakow in 1899 and came to Israel in 1927. He participated as a delegate in four World, Zionist Congreases and was general secretary of the Israel General Zionist Party.
