Israel Mission in Germany to Have Fifty Experts on Staff

The headquarters of the Israel “purchasing mission” here will not begin functioning until the end of the month, despite the fact that it was scheduled to begin operations Thursday, it was learned today. The mission will award contracts to German firms for the specific goods and services due Israel as reparations from Germany.

Dr. F. Shinnar, who will head the mission, is still conferring in Israel. He will go to London before coming here. The largest part of the mission staff, which will consist of some 50 industrial, commercial and legal experts, is scheduled to arrive here by the end of next week.

Meanwhile, Israeli companies are attempting to secure a portion of the service business which will be part of the reparations payments. El Al, the Israeli national airline, has opened an office in Frankfurt, while several Israeli insurance companies have formed a pool to insure reparations cargoes from Germany to Israel.
