Plans were announced here today for the expansion of the educational and cultural activities in America by the Histadrut, Israel’s labor federation. Yeshayahu Avrech, chairman of the Histadrut’s Diaspora department, who made the announcement, said that there was no intention of stepping up Histadrut propaganda activities but to emphasize a clear-cut educational program by the setting up of seminars, study groups and similar projects.

The objective of the new program, he said, was to reach the more than 300,000 Jewish students in American universities. Parallel activities would be aimed at lecturers, teachers and educators and through them to reach Jewish youth.

Under the plan, Histadrut will bring to Israel hundreds of university students about to finish their studies. They will spend three months in Israel studying at university level, problems of society, work and cooperation.
