Dr. Moses Hadas, a scholar noted for his expertise in Greek and Latin as chairman of the department for those languages at Columbia University, died here today. He was 66. Prof. Hadas had come to Aspen, with his wife, Rachel, to attend a conference on humanistic studies. He was stricken with a heart ailment on Monday.
Born in Atlanta, Moses Hadas was educated at Emory University and at Columbia, and studied also at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, where he was ordained a rabbi in 1926. He had been on the faculty at Columbia since 1925. He was a prominent author on the histories of Greek and Latin literature and of other works in the field of classical languages and literature.
