Sen. Stuart Symington, a leading member of the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees, left Israel today after conferring here with Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan and other government leaders on a number of issues including the continuing American embargo on shipment of arms to Israel. The Missouri Democrat said the “efficiency and high morale of the army and government” had impressed him strongly and that “those who see in Israel a real friend of the United States are encouraged by her courage and her readiness to reach an understanding.”
