Franz Novak, 59, a former SS captain and former aide to Adolf Eichmann, went on trial here for Nazi crimes for the fourth time in eight years. Novak was in charge of the transportation of millions of Jews and other victims of the Third Reich who were sent by road and rail to extermination camps.
