Emanuel Kay Dead at 60

Funeral services were held Sunday for Emanuel Kay who died of cancer Thursday at his home in Manilus, NY. He was 60 years old, Mr. Kay, who was general manager of the Jewish Week and American Examiner in New York City and editor of the Jewish Digest, was born in Harrisburg, Pa., and resided for many years in Syracuse where he was active in the city’s Jewish community.

He was the editor and publisher of the first Jewish community newspaper in Syracuse. helped start the first local Jewish radio program and was the founder of the local B’nai B’rith lodge and was its president for the last two years. He was also a member of the Onondaga Post 131 of the Jewish War Veterans, Mr. Kay, who resided several years in Washington, wrote book reviews dealing with Jewish topics for the Washington Post. In 1965 he was graphic arts director for the Lyndon B. Johnson inaugural program and graphic arts consultant for the 1965 inaugural book.
