“al” Lassman, N. Y. U. Football Star, Drowned in Maine

Harrison, Me., Jul. 7 (JTA) –

Alfred, "Al" Lassman, at one time all-American football tackle for New York University, was drowned last night when his canoe capsized on Long Lake, at Camp Vakelo, where he was still recuperating from an injury he received in 1928 while playing football.

Lassman, who was twenty-eight years old, was over six feet tall and weighed more than 200 pounds. In addition to his football activities he was the intercollegiate heavyweight boxing champion and it was believed that he would undertake a ring career upon graduation, but his injuries prevented his doing so.
