Clerks to Mark Ballots for Jews Rosh Hashonah

Augusta, Me., Jul. 17 (JTA) –

The 4,000 Jewish voters of Maine will be able to vote in the state elections September 10, Rosh Hashonah, the Jewish New Year, without violating their religious scruples, it was made known here today, when Secretary of State Tobey called their attention to a 1920 statute. It provides that any voter whose religion prevents him from marking his ballot shall have two election clerks to do it for him.
