Anti-semitic Publication Distributed in Maine Senatorial Primaries

PORTLAND, Me, Jun. 21 (JTA) –

About 50,000 copies of the anti-Semitic publication, Common Sense, containing an article headlined, "McCarthy and His Enemies," were imported into Maine, apparently in connection with the election primaries today.

The copies, according to the Bangor police, reportedly were brought into the state by truck from New Jersey. The paper is published in Union, N.J. The copies were being distributed in all the cities of the state.

Robert L. Jones, who is seeking to unseat U.S. Senator Margaret Chase Smith, made his campaign with the support of Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy.
