The Maine Medical Association has abandoned plans to hold this year's convention, due to open next month, at the Colony, a resort at Kennebunkport, Me., because that resort operates on a policy of racial discrimination, it was announced today by the Anti-Defamation League here. Instead, the convention will be held at the Eastland Hotel in Portland.

According to the ADL, protests against holding the meeting at the Colony were made by two members of the Maine Medical Association, Dr. Benjamin Zolov, who is on the executive committee of the ADL's New England regional board; and Dr. Maurice Ross, a member of the Biddeford-Saco B'nai B'rith. As a result of their protests, Dr. William Mahaney, president of the Maine Medical Association, named Dr. Zolov general convention chairman, and the latter moved the convention site.

Dr. Ross had also fought successfully against the use of the Colony at Kennenbunkport as the site for the annual meeting of the New York County Medical Association. The owners of the Colony also run a hotel attacked as discriminatory at Delray Beach, Fla.
