Premier Shikorski obtained a vote of confidence on his address in the Sejm, outlining the new Government’s policy, the vote being 230 to 110.
Because the minority deputies took exception to parts of the Prime Minister’s program, it was predicted they would abstain from the vote of confidence. When the vote was taken, however, the White Russian and the Ukrainian representatives announced their support of the Premier. The Jews alone refrained from voting, which is believed to have caused a rift in the minority front, causing the practical isolation of the Jewish Sejm Club.
Discussion of the address of Premier Shikerski continued since last Saturday, addresses being made by Dr. Glombinski, former Cabinet Minister Thugutt, former Prime Minister Witcs and Deputy Barlicky of the Socialists. In the course of the dabt ### Premier Shikorski reproached the Jews for what he alleged to be their excessive sensitiveness. He recalled articles written by Georg Brandes against the ###sh pogroms, as well as the protests of American Jews. He said ###ws had the habit of referring to the “slighest excesses as pogroms.”
