King Hussein of Hedjas narrowly escaped kidnapping near Petra when he was attacked by a band of Wahabis. Only after a lengthy struggle did his escort succeed in repelling the attackers.

Fighting has been going on for a long time between Sultan Ibn Saud of Neid, the ruler of the Wahabis’ tribe, and King Hussein because of disagreements over the frontier, and the opposition of sultan Ibn to the creation of a Pan-Arab Confederation and of Hussein’s aspirations to the Caliphate.

It is now definitely confirmed that King Hussein will visit Jerusalem.
