There are only two Jewish pupils out of a total of 19,213 registered in the Government schools of Palestine, according to official statistics. There are 11,525 Jewish pupils registered in the schools maintained by the Zionist Organization in Palestine and 6,560 more Jewish pupils enrolled in Jewish schools maintained by other organizations or individuals there.
In view of the fact that all schools maintained in Palestine by the Government are visited exclusively by Arab pupils, the Jewish public considers it unjust that the bequest of ???100,000 by Ellis Kadouri should be used for both Arab and Jewish schools alike.
