Vaad Leumi Replies to Opponents of Palestine Comunities Ordinance

Declares Religious Interests are not Exposed to Danger (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

On behalf of the ## of the Vaad ##, General Council of the Jews of Palestine. Dr. Joseph ## issued a statement here replying to various charges that have been made recently in certain Jewish ## in Palestine in construction with the ## and the powers of the Vaad ## under the Jewish Communities Law with a view to ## the Orthodox Jews from joining the new Official Jewish Community.

“Fear has been accused,” the statement says “## the states of the Palestine would be end##gened, that ##eligious persons and women would have a decisive power in election of the Grand Rabbis, and that the Vaad ## was seeking in the negotiations with the Government to un## the authority of the Rabbis. Another argument used to describe the people from joining the General Community was ## the power planed in the bands of the Vaad ## to tax the members of the Community would ## a ## on these members. Finally, these commanded with the ## the various incidents and the members of the various communities according to their origin (Sephardin.
